Still there is a yearning in Pippin to meet and marry a young female Hobbit one day and raise a family. Right now he is at the age where many Hobbitesses are flirting and doing all they can to seek Pippin's attention.

Ernil i Pheriannath and gained much fame and notoriety among the population of the Shire. Others would look on him with pride and admiration. Always having been the annoying son of the Twain he was now held in great esteem, something he had a hard time getting his brain around. To him he was still the youngest child and only son of Paladin II, ancestor of the Old Took.

Pippin laid under the tree, the stump of a pipe laid on his chest as smoke rose from the bowl and circled around his head before dissipating. His belly was full of freshly baked apple pie that his much older sister, Pearl Took, had baked for dessert. His eyelids got heavier and heavier. They got so heavy, in fact, that he could not keep them open and so he didn't. A few moments later he dozed off to sleep under the dappled shade of the ancient oak dreaming of sugary, cinnamony apple pie. Grinning to himself he belched slightly and opened his eyes. In the distance he heard horse hooves coming very fast. Sitting up he looked towards his family's dwelling, the dark, reddish, round door he was so familiar with. A messenger handed Pearl a letter and rode off. Shrugging Pippin laid back down but was disturbed by the faint cry of his sister waving to him at the entrance of the door.
"You got a letter!" she called to him waving an ivory colored folded paper in her hand.
Indignantly blowing out air he stood and went to see what all teh fuss was about.
"You got a letter," she told him as he approached, the pipe still stuck in his mouth. "Since when did you start smoking?" she scolded him as she handed him the paper.
"Since forever," he replied flatly as he tore open the letter and quickly scanned it. "Oh, honey bee sweat, it's an invitation to a party being held by that nosy Petunia Underhill. No doubt she wants to introduce me to one of her unmarried females from the other side of the pond. The last time I went she tried to marry me off to her fat cousin, Iris Slipwillow. Never again," he handed the letter back to his sister with disgust.
"Wait now," Pearl opened it and read it. "I think you are wrong, Pippin. She is having a betrothal party for her distant cousin from over the hill, Diamond of Long Cleeve. There might be some pretty girls there as well as lots of foods and drink," she tempted him with a sing-songy voice.
"Hmmm," he thought for a moment. "I'll go if you'll go with me," he told his big sister whom he loved and admired but had her wrapped around his little finger.
"That will give me an excuse to have a new dress made. Done," she shook her baby brother's hand and smiled brightly at him.
